PUENTE Learning Center has partnered with UnidosUS for the 2024-2025 school year to host the Avanzando Through College Program. The program’s goal is to support predominantly first-generation students during their undergraduate career by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support necessary to successfully graduate from college. You are guaranteed to get out of the Avanzando Through College Program:
• Virtual monthly workshops on topics related to college retention and career readiness
• Virtual quarterly one-on-one support
• Access to internships and scholarships opportunities
• Build a community with other students attending different colleges
• Access to resources from UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Latino civil rights organization
• Care package (gifts) during Fall and Spring finals week
• And PUENTE’s Micro-Scholarship Award of $500 ($250 in Fall, $250 in Spring)*
**Additional $50 if you join Avanzando Mentor-Mentee program
Who can apply?:
• HS Seniors – Class of 2024 (1st year college student for the 2024-2025 school year)
Application Requirements:
1. Submit screenshot of Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) or Enrollment Confirmation from college you will be attending for the 2024-2025 school year.
2. Submit screenshot of 2024-2025 financial award package from college you will be attending for the 2024-2025 school year.
Mandatory Dates:
* In person orientation – Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 3:00 – 4:30 pm
* In person end of the year celebration – Week of June 16, 2025
* Program launch date is Wednesday, September 13 at 4:00 pm. Monthly workshops will take place every second Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm via Zoom. Program is virtual via Zoom except for orientation and end of the year celebration.
* This form must be received by Friday, June 14 to be considered for the Avanzando Through College Program. Please note that admission preference into our program will be given to our partner high school seniors. Spots are limited.
