LOS ANGELES, CA (JULY 14, 2020) We are pleased to announce that PUENTE Learning Center’s Board of Directors appointed business leader Chun Wong as the organization’s new Board Chair. Wong has been an active Board member at PUENTE, previously serving as Board Vice-Chair and Board Finance Committee Chair.

Outgoing Board Chair Albert Reyes says: “I am so pleased that Chun is stepping into this new role. He brings a depth of integrity and a dedication to effective board governance. With his expertise, he will further PUENTE’s mission.”

Chun Wong is the founding CEO of Pasadena-based Asolva, a healthcare informatics company that makes cloud software for hospitals throughout the U.S.  As an entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in software engineering and management consulting in industries such as healthcare, education, and finance, Chun understands the journey of growing an organization and serving its stakeholders.  Chun’s life story parallels that of the community that PUENTE serves.  At 5 years old, Chun immigrated to the US with his family.  His parents struggled to make ends meet while attending evening classes to learn English. Chun’s immigrant experience compels him to ensure access and opportunity for the students of PUENTE.

“I am truly honored to serve PUENTE as Board Chair,” says Wong. “As PUENTE commemorates 35 years of service, sound governance is more important than ever so that PUENTE may pursue the opportunities and meet the challenges of our current moment. Working with my fellow Board members and all of PUENTE’s stakeholders, I am confident that we will position our organization to continue building bridges to education for the next 35 years.”

Wong’s term as Board Chair began on July 1, and he will lead his first full Board meeting as chair in September. “We are fortunate to have Chun Wong as our new Board Chair. I am inspired by his forward-thinking leadership and his commitment to our community,” says PUENTE CEO Jerome Greening.
