We are thrilled to announce the completion of PUENTE Charter School’s wing renovation, resulting in the added classroom space to meet capacity for additional grade levels. This past fall, we expanded our school operations to include a full day kindergarten and TK, a breakfast and lunch program, and an afterschool program, to better serve the needs of our working families.
The additional 2,000 square feet of classroom space is part of the expansion of our award-winning charter school, which will be adding grades 1-5 over the next few years in a slow-growth rollout model. The newly-expanded space will anchor our Funds of Knowledge instructional design in which PUENTE instructors leverage student experiences and interests to develop the culturally responsive lesson plans that lead to high student achievement. Literacy, math and technology workstations will support student mastery of core content subject matter, allowing students to design, engineer, and present projects that connect to our theme-based curriculum.
This renovation project was made possible in part by the generous support from the Vernon CommUNITY Fund (VCF). The collaboration between VCF and PUENTE Learning Center leverages the existing hope, commitment, and enrichment of our neighborhood to provide essential resources that lead to lasting change for individuals, families, and communities.
